The Greenbay Packers are the current Super Bowl champions, winning Super Bowl XLV. They joined what is now called the National Football League back in 1921. To date, the Packers are the only non-profit, community-owned major league professional sports team in the United States.
Through the years, many people liked rooting for the Greenbay Packers simply because they are community-owned, and Brett Favre was a very popular quarterback even among non-Greenbay fans. When Favre retired he was replaced with Aaron Rodgers who took the team to new heights.
After finishing the 2010 regular season with a 10-6 record, the Packers were the #6 seed in the NFC playoffs. They faced the #3 seeded Philadelphia Eagles in the very first round. The Packers were victorious, winning the game by the score of 21-16. Next was the Divisional round, were the Packers defeated the #1 seeded Atlanta Falcons 48-21 to reach the NFC Championship Game where they played the Chicago Bears in an away game. This was only the second playoff meeting between the two franchises.
The Green Bay Packers defeated the Chicago Bears 21-14 sending them to Super Bowl XLV which was played on February 6, 2011. The Packers defeated the AFC champion Pittsburgh Steelers, 31-25, becoming the first #6 seed from the NFC to ever win a Super Bowl.
