The Buccaneers, or Bucs, are members of the Southern Division of the National Football Conference in the National Football League. Along with the Seahawks, they joined the NFL in 1976 as an expansion team. The inaugural campaign was painful as the Bucaneers lost all 14 regular season games. The losing streak spanned 26 games as Tampa Bay lost the first 12 contests played in 1977. Currently owned by Malcolm Glazer and coached by Raheem Morris the Bucs have been constant playoff contenders and winners of Super Bowl XXXVII in 2002. The championship squad was coached by Jon Gruden.

Only one player has been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame and he was the first draft pick in the franchises history, LeRoy Selmon. Selmon and former fullback Mike Alstott are the only two players having their numbers retired in Tampa. Selmon wore 63 and Alstott number 40.
