The Lions moved to Detroit in 1934 and are currently members of the North Division of the National football Conference in the National Football league. Playing out of Ford Field, the Lions have won NFS Championships before 1957, but since have entered a dry spell.

On January 15th of 2009, the Lions took on Jim Schwartz, former defensive coordinator for the Tennessee Titans, as head coach. With Jim’s expertise, as well as a new offensive coordinator, the Lions are poised to break their dry spell and return to the championships.
