Citi Field
Located in Corona Park, Citi Field is home to the Mets and is adjacent to Sea Stadium. Named after Citigroup, the first game was a college baseball game between St. John’s Red Storm and the Georgetown Hovas. Finished in April of 2009, Citi Field is one of the newest ballparks in the world and is favored to win the rights to host the 2013 All-Star Game.
This new ballpark has a 42,000 person capacity plus standing room, but fewer overall seats than Shea Stadium. Designed after the old Ebbets Field, it joins Coors Field, and Safeco Field in replicating the design. Designed to be a pitcher friendly ballpark, Citi Field’s dimensions are quite spacious and feature several design quirks which make it quite a crowd pleaser.
Whether you’re rooting for the Mets or their rivals, Citi Field is the place to be.
