Kauffman Stadium

Formerly the Royals Stadium, and known as the K, Ewing M. Kauffman Stadium is home to the Kansas City Royals. Inaugurated in 1973, the Royals won over the Texas Rangers for the first game in the new stadium. Barely a month after its construction, Kauffman Stadium saw pitching legend Nolan Ryan throw the first of his seven no-hitters.

One of only two stadiums built during the 70s as a baseball only facility, Kauffman Stadium is one of the best examples of modernist stadium design and has been copied many times for minor league stadium. The parks best known feature is called the “Water Spectacular” behind the right field fence and is the largest privately funded fountain in the world. Whether a Royals fan or not, Royals Stadium is not something to miss.
